Dr. John Anthony Shayner, 64 , died  09/23/09 in  Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover, NJ.  Dr. John lived in  Panther Valley, Allamuchy Township, NJ coming from North Plainfield, NJ. He spent his childhood in Hazlet, NJ and was born in Ipswitch, England on 08/27/45.

Occupation: He was the Vice President for Global Initiatives and Senior Administrative Advisor at Centenary College, Hackettstown, NJ. John held myriad titles and fulfilled many responsibilities through the past 30 years. Consistent through those years and those titles was the universality of his concern for everything Centenary.

Additional Information:  Dr. Shayner received a B.A. from Columbia University and a PhD. from Stanford University; in addition to being VP for Global Initiatives and Senior Admin. Advisor, he was also Vice President of Administration; Director of International Programs; Acting President; Professor of English; and Executive Assistant to the President. Perhaps his greatest contribution to the College was in the creation of International Programs in 1992. For the rest of his life, re remained dedicated to the success of these efforts which has brought hundreds of students fro all across the globe to the Hackettstown campus to study.

Services: A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 12, 2009, 4:00 PM- in the Whitney Chapel at Centenary College, 400 Jefferson St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840
