Edward Foley Price, Jr., 84 , died  02/28/07 in  his residence in Washington Township (Morris Co.), NJ peacefully in his home following a brief illness.  Edward lived in  Washington Township, NJ since 1958 and was born in Danville, PA on 03/07/22.

Occupation: Mr. Price was a former Vice President and Plant Production Manager of M & M Mars, Inc. Hackettstown, NJ. He and his wife moved to this area in 1958 when the "new" M & M plant opened on High Street where he remained a vital part of the company for 30 years. He was Vice President of Research and Development and was responsible for numerous manufacturing and quality control innovations for which the company has become famous. It was there he developed the recipe for putting M&M's in cookies, an idea which gave birth to an entire new sector in the food industry. Often referring to Mr. Price as "my right hand", Forrest Mars, Sr. was frequently heard to say, "Ed Price knows more about making M&M's than anyone in the world"

Veteran Info: A World War II veteran, Mr. Price was awarded a Purple Heart for an injury he sustained during the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest in France 1944

Additional Information:  Mr. Price returned to Penn State University after the war to complete his undergraduate work and went on to earn two graduate degrees in Chemistry and Engineering. In 1948 he was hired by Forrest Mars Sr. to work at the nascent M&M Candy Company in Newark, NJ. A gentle and largely anonymous philanthropist he was an early supporter of Hackettstown Community Hospital and a quiet and generous benefactor to many individuals and families. He was an avid gardener known for his roses and fruit trees

Visitation: A very private man all his life he requested no public memorial service.
