Occupation: Gertrude was a Reading Specialist for 40 years, employed by the West Orange Board of Education; she also spent a year teaching in England on a Fulbright Scholarship.

Additional Information:  Graduate of Montclair State College; received her Masters Degree in English from Middlebury College; she was active in various educational sororities and voluntered with the Red Cross(Essex Chapter)and was a Staff Aid, Head of Night Crew; volunteer at the Montclair Art Museum; member of the NJ Education Association; member of the National Education Association;member of the Fortnightly Club (branch of Westfield Woman's Club); member of Panther Valley Ecumenical Ministry; former member of First Presbyterian Church of Orange, NJ and was on the Board of Trustees of the Meals on Wheels Program; former member of Westfield First Presbyterian Church for 50 years; member of the International Poetry Society and had 6 Poems published in their collections. In her retirement years Gertrude enjoyed readiing, traveling, writing poetry, volunteering in the Heath Village gift shop and editing the in house paper, The Voice.
