Arline I. O'Malley, age 91, of Hackettstown, NJ died Friday, October 21, 2016 at House of the Good Shepherd, Hackettstown. Arline was born November 20, 1924 in Woodbridge, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Russell B. and Viola (Beckman) Parkstrom, Sr. She is preceded in death by her husband, James W. O'Malley, her brother, Russell B. “Bert” Parkstorm, Jr., and her sister in law, Margaret Parkstrom. Arline was a loving and devoted homemaker who loved to bake, travel and spend time with family and friends. She was a former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Barnegat, NJ. Arline was of Swedish descent and in 1949 she made her way to Sweden to meet family there, enjoyed it so much that she returned in 1951. Stay this time for 3 months where she dedicated herself to learning the language of her ancestors and by the time she returned to America she spoke fluent Swedish. Before the birth of her first child, she enjoyed a 15-year career as an executive secretary. She is survived by her son; Brian and his wife Ann, 2 daughters; Christine Antoine and her husband Guy, Kathleen O'Malley and husband Gaylord Fields, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons, and many cousins. Visitation will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm services to begin at 8:30. Burial will be in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 11:30 am in the chapel. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cochran Funeral Home Inc., 905 High Street Hackettstown NJ 07840. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arline’s memory to the House of the Good Shepherd 798 Willow Grove Street Hackettstown NJ 07840.
