Barbara Sly Died: Aug 31, 2016 Barbara C. Sly, age 88, of Hackettstown and formerly of Pennington, NJ, and Ridgefield, CT, died Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. Barbara was born September 25, 1927, in Warren, PA. She is the daughter of the late Paul H. and Meredyth (Neal) Coe. In addition to her parents, and her husband of 64 years, William L. Sly, she was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Critchlow. A 1949 graduate of Wells College, Barbara was employed as a bookkeeper and church secretary before and after raising her family. She was active in Girl Scouting, as an Elder and Deacon in the church, and a volunteer in other settings including historic Keeler Tavern and the Pennington Public Library. She also enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, and reading. She is survived by 3 daughters, Margery N. Sly, Carol G. Sly and husband Stephen Marshall, Patricia L. Sly and husband Robert Chernow, 1 brother, Dr. Stephen Coe and wife Peggy, 5 grandchildren: Robin, Melissa, Jack, John, and Neal; brothers-in law James Critchlow and Paul Kreitler; and many nieces. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cochran Funeral Home Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840. Cremation is to be private. A memorial service will be held at Heath Village Auditorum at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 298 Main St, Hackettstown, NJ 07840; Wells College, Aurora, NY 13026; or to a charity of one’s choice. Oh my, what sad news. Yet joyful in that Barby and Bill will be together once again. A great couple. No wonder she couldn't wait to join him. My sympathy to all of you who will miss her wit, her warmth and her wisdom.
