Elisabeth Marie Gombka, 74 of Hackettstown, NJ passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Kessler Rehabilitation Center in Chester, NJ. Born November 6, 1941 in Jersey City, NJ, “Betty” was the daughter of the late Herbert & Rita Cornetta Jacobsen.
Mrs. Gombka was formerly employed by the Parsippany Board of Education as a Business Education teacher at the Parsippany High School. Betty has lived in the greater Hackettstown area for the past 25 years coming from Morris Plains, NJ and was raised in Denville, NJ. She was of the Catholic faith and was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Church in Andover, NJ. In addition, Betty was a member of the Panther Valley Crafts group and loved travelling the world.
Betty is survived by her son, David Gombka and his wife Deborah; her daughter, Karen Smith and her husband Paul; one brother, John Jacobsen; two sisters, Linda Szipszky and Anne Hampson; Four loving grandchildren; Adam & Bonnie Gombka and Shannon & Sherry Smith. Betty was predeceased by her husband, William Gombka in 2009 and her Daughter, Susan in 1992.
Visitation will be at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ on Monday, February 29, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00pm. A 12:00 noon Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, Route 517, Andover, NJ. Interment will follow at the Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown, NJ.
