I am deeply saddened to learn of Tony's passing. He worked on my pianos for the better part of 25 years. He always had a smile and kind word. I loved the conversations we go into about pianos, players, and music in general. He was always my go to piano tuner. Your are missed 'Tony the tuner." May you rest in peace.

I’m so devastated. Tony was a wonderful friend and fine musician. We had fun “music” talks, disagreements and laughs. He was a master Piano tuner and we will miss him terribly.

Tony was one of those people that one would remember upon meeting him. He had an infectious smile, a congenial personality, a super sense of humor, a generous nature, and a positive outlook on life. I met Tony over 40 years ago at the CCM tennis courts. We got to know each other quite well over the years. It was always great to talk to him about anything and everything, especially if it involved his true passion of music. Tony touched so many lives … . I and others will miss him immensely. My condolences to his family. Roger McCoach

I've known Tony for more than 25 years, or over half my life. It's so hard now to think of him not being there any longer. No more emails setting up tennis on weekends. No more texts asking if I can play next week or tomorrow or in 5 minutes...or 5 minutes ago. No more "you should play with this guy, you'd have a good match". Tony is the reason I know a lot of the people I play tennis with, and spend time with, today. He always wanted to make sure everyone had fun. He would work to set up matches and get people together even if he wasn't playing. Knowing Tony in tennis led to knowing Tony in life and he was just as kind, caring and compassionate in everything he did. Almost every memory I have of Tony is of him laughing or smiling. That was his natural state, it was happiness and it was genuine. That's how I'll always remember him. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. This is a great loss because Tony was a great guy.

Tony was a good friend since kindergarten. I cannot believe he is no longer with us. While I was never able to beat him in a tennis match, I always admired his passion for the sport. He was a class act on the court and at the piano. We last spoke with about a month ago. It was apparent that he was not doing well. Rest in peace my friend!

Allen as we knew him was a great cousin and being the same age growing up we spent a lot of time together. As adults we saw each other less although there were great times we had with his sister Marilyn in our early adulthood. Always had a great sense of humor and we had many good cousin times. Love you Allen and you will be missed. I know you are there with Marilyn now laughing as you both did so often !

My sincerest condolences to Tony's family and a special shout-out to Rose and Len who took such very good care of Tony in so many ways. We all know about Tony's tennis prowess on the court and how he had the best half-volley of anyone. Tony, you played tennis like you played the piano, with gracefulness and elegance. I'll never forget the time Sean Hardy and myself visited Tony one day a couple years ago, he was under the weather but like 2 little kids we said Tony play something for us please. He turned on his electric piano and started playing New York, New York. It sounded perfect, and then to take it up a notch he started singing the tune. I think I got goose bumps lol. He said my voice is 10% of what it used to be but we said no Tony you sound wonderful keep going, so he sang the rest of the song and he was so in the moment it was beautiful. Thank you my friend...and Tony was a lady's man if there ever was one. He had a 3 year flirt-fest with the woman who checked badges at my pool, every summer he spent more time chatting with her than hitting the ball with me lol. He didn't care that she was married to a cop either lol. He even got her to come out on the courts and hit the ball with him. He was as smooth as they come. And my daughter Jenna loved hitting with Tony. On the court and off, she always hung on every word Tony said to her, she would follow him around like a puppy dog even though she was 30 lol. He had that magical magnetism about him. And finally, Tony had a big heart for those in need. Only 3 months ago he was feeling well enough to do walks at the mall. I said Tony there is a crazy 5k coming up in November where you go out on the tarmac at Newark Airport and do 3 miles, if you are up to it we can walk it. He said I can walk 3 miles, but what is the charity? I said it's Angel Flight, which provides free air transportation for children and adults who need life-saving medical care not available in their area. He though that was fantastic and said let's do it. So Roseanne, Jenna, Tony and myself walked the runway at EWR and we finished and celebrated. It's more good times like those that I will miss but will cherish the memories. Thank you Tony.

Tony was a wonderful, thoughtful, caring and gentle soul. I enjoyed playing tennis with him. He also helped with my piano as the famous "Tony the Tuner". Always smiling, always positive. He will be missed. RIP Tony.

In high school, we called him Carman His cousins & family called him Alan His friends call him Tony When we played tennis, back in the late 70s, I asked him about all those 1st names. He said, "my family & cousins call me Alan, but I prefer Tony" Tony was the "go to guy" for tuning or fixing/rebuilding pianos. I remember seeing several pianos taken apart & put back together. He loved playing tennis and even bought a racket restringer, which was fortunate for me, as he did a great job redoing my tennis racket. We have had many private conversations discussing cancer, treatment reactions, doctors, etc... sometimes at 3am in the morning. Last night I was up at 3am .. took my meds . .. now what . .. there is nobody there .. went back to bed - stared off into space . . there's nobody there at 3am ... miss you Tony --> RIP

I hadn't seen Tony in about ten years or so. I heard about Tony's illness through Jim M. and he kept me posted. Very sad story. About a month ago, from out of the blue, Tony called me - just to check in and see how I was doing. He sounded upbeat and even talked about playing some tennis - knowing Tony, it was just his way of saying don't worry about me, more important, how are you doing. I was honored and thankful to receive the call, and a little embarrassed that I had not thought to check in with him. A truly warm, gentle, good man.

I met Tony over 40 years ago playing tennis at the West Shore clay courts in Hopatcong. He was truly an amazing man and even better friend. Always a kind and gentle spirit whom I'm going to miss very much. Right now my heart is hurt deeply but I'll try to console myself with the knowledge he is not suffering anymore and is in a better place. Barbara and I will never forget the happy times we've shared my friend. May God's love shine on you.
My sincere condolences to your family

Tony was so special in so many ways that it's hard to simplify his life and what he meant to me in just a few short sentences. He started out as a tennis buddy who became a solid, dependable, friend. He was always there for everyone when needed. It hurts that I couldn't be there when he needed us the most. We couldn't help a real decent guy when his health turned against him. The unfairness of his illness leaves me angry and sad. He deserved so much better treatment from life. But while he was with us, it was an honor to be with him, playing tennis with him, talking music and politics and life in general over coffee with him. Those diner breakfasts will be remembered forever. I am endlessly impressed by the fact that during all those years on the courts, he never made a bad call and never got angry when I did. He was one of a kind and I'm a better person for having known him and to have been able to call him a friend.

Tony was the most positive friend I ever had. May he now play tennis with tennis balls that never lose pressure, nor lose fuzz, and a racquet that never needs stringing. Play with a forehand better then Federers, and a backhand Wawrinka would be jealous of. Tony was one of the most considerate friends. When I did not have a match, Tony would come extra early to hit with me or stayed later just so I would have a game. Tony will be greatly missed on the tennis courts, at the diner, or a dinner out with the fellas.
