Anthony F. Vicario, 100, of Venice, Florida, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at House of the Good Shepherd, Hackettstown, NJ with his loving family at his bedside. Born April 19, 1916 in Mount Vernon, NY, Anthony was the son of the late Ferdinando & Fiorina Fraraccio Vicario.

Anthony attended Cornell University and graduated from New York University, Summa Cum Laude in 1936.  Anthony proudly served his country, enlisting in the US Army/Air Corps, during World War II, from 1942-1946, reaching the rank of Staff Sargent.

Mr. Vicario retired many years ago where he served in the Procurement Department for the former Asiatic Petroleum Company of New York City. In addition to his employment, Anthony served as an usher at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City for over 20 years. At home, Mr. Vicario was a passionate organic gardener of vegetables and flowers. His love of animals and wildlife remained constant throughout his life.

Anthony is survived by two daughters, Susan Vicario Penney and her husband Norm of Long Valley, NJ and Judith Vicario Beck of Dobbs Ferry, NY. Five loving grandchildren, William & Catherine Kastning, Melisande Novak, Claire & Ellie Beck. Two great grandchildren, Margaret & Edward Novak.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 9:00am at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York, NY in the Lady Chapel. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, North Tarrytown, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider donation to the Heifer Fund or to your local ASPCA shelter or to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing, 6725 Lyons Street, P.O. So sorry to hear your sad news, especially since he just recently got back to New Jersey, near you all. He certainly was a devoted usher at St. Patrick's Church. Love to all the families...Mom/grandma
