Amelia M. Sparta, age 102, of Hackettstown formally of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. Amelia was born March 7, 1910 in Bloomsbury, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Christian and Matilda (Noto) Fatta. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years the late Santo J. Sparta on May 16, 1977. She was also predeceased by four brothers and six sisters; Joseph, Samuel, Leo and Sebastian Fatta; also Josephine Turdo, Adeline LaCaruba, Sebastiana Turdo, Mary Napoli, Providence Napoli and Grace Fatta; her son in law Salvatore P. Russo and a great grandson Michael J. Russo.

Surviving is a daughter, Grace Russo and Grand-Daughter, Stephanie Russo and her fiance Douglas Stepanchuk, Jr. and step Great-Grand daughter Geena Jaremko, Grandsons, Stephen Russo and George Russo and his wife Janet. Great-Grandsons, George Russo, Jr. and his fiance Caitlin Suk; Nicholas Russo and his fiance Samantha Yates, Jonathan Russo and a Great-Great Grandson, Brett Salvatore Russo. She was also survived by many loving nieces & nephews

She was a devoted member of the Church Of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Altar-Rosary Society.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 21, 2012, 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, NJ

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 22, 2012, 10:30 AM at Church Of The Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin Mary, 305 High St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840 and will be offered by the Rev. David J. Pekola.

Burial will be in the Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ.

Memorial contributions may be made in Amelia’s name to the Church of the Assumption.
