Alfred W. Sitarski

Alfred Walter Sitarski of Panther Valley, Allamuchy, New Jersey and formerly of East Dennis, Massachusetts and Rutherford, New Jersey returned to the Lord on Saturday, July 14th. He was 91 years old.
He was born in Linden, New Jersey on April 14, 1921.

Fondly know as "Al", Mr. Sitarski served in the United States Navy from 1942-1946 and was in the Navy Reserve until 1955.
He graduated from Newark College of Engineering with Tau Beta Pi honors and his degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1943. He pursued graduate studies at Cornell and New York University.

He lead a distinguished 37-year career at Exxon Corporation and retired as State Government Relations Representative, Public Affairs in 1983. He was awarded an Assembly Resolution and Commendation from the State of New Jersey General Assembly upon his retirement for his contributions to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the New Jersey Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, as Trustee of the New Jersey Citizens Transportation Council, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the New Jersey Petroleum Council, New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee, and as Trustee of the New Jersey Sportsman-Industry Conservation Counsel. Al was also known as an avid fisherman all of his life, as a consummate and skilled angler.
Mr. Sitarski was also recognized for his contributions to the Governor's Early Warning Task Force, Governor's Council on New Jersey Outdoors, Advisory Commission Liberty State Park, Sportsmen-Industry Conservation Council of New Jersey, Natural Resource Education programs for Pequest Trout Hatchery, Natural Resource Education Center and the New Jersey Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife.

He is predeceased by his parents, Victoria and Joseph Sitarski and his sister, Helen Weilandics.

Mr. Sitarski is survived by his beloved wife, Clara of 65 years, his daughters Susan Sturm and Cynthia Sommer, beloved grand children, James and Allison Sommer and loving niece, Elaine Buehler, nephew, Dean Cieszynski and grand-nephews Christopher Buehler and Raymond Cieszynski.
 Visitation will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 on Monday, July 16, 2012 from 4-7 pm.  A funeral mass will be held at Curch of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Hackettstown, NJ on Tuesday July 17, 2012 at    11 am. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester, NJ
