Ronald William Shaw, Sr., age 81, a lifelong resident of Schooley’s Mountain and Hackettstown, NJ, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Randolph, NJ. He was born July 22, 1938 in Hackettstown, NJ to the late William Foster and Lillian Moyer Shaw and was predeceased by his sister, Janice Topoleski. Ron was previously employed at M&M Mars for 35 years, in Hackettstown, NJ. He was also a member of the Highlands Presbyterian Church, Schooley’s Mountain, NJ. Ron graduated from Hackettstown High School Class of 1957 and was an active member with the class reunions. He always loved reconnecting with his classmates again. Beyond being a two-sport Hackettstown High School standout athlete for football and baseball, Ron also enjoyed playing for the M&M Mars and other men’s league bowling and softball teams. While starting his retirement at age 53, Ron enjoyed playing golf and continued to give back by donating over 100 pints of blood to the American Red Cross in his lifetime. Ron loved to travel with his wife, Barbara. They would plan trips, crisscrossing the country by car, while occasionally traveling overseas to Europe. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family and friends will miss him dearly. Ron is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara Skinner Shaw, and their three children; Elizabeth Kim Kubik, and Jerry Carratura of Schooley’s Mountain, NJ, Ronald W Shaw Jr. of Schooley’s Mountain, NJ, Robert M Shaw and his wife, Maureen Connelly Shaw of Califon, NJ, his brother, Craig Shaw and his wife, Patricia Shaw of Albion, NY, and his sister, Cynthia Shaw Baum of Phillipsburg, NJ. Ron’s grandkids were the love of his life, each one being different and so special to him. He enjoyed being a part of all of their lives. He is survived by his seven grandchildren; Alex Shaw and Jaime Byrne of Hackettstown, NJ, Corrie Shaw Rea and her husband, Brandon Rea, of Corryton, TN, Richard Kubik of Boonton, NJ, Teesha Kubik of Schooley’s Mountain, NJ, Leah Shaw of South Bend, IN, Megan Shaw of Califon, NJ, and Erin Shaw of Califon, NJ, and is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the care of Cochran Funeral Home in Hackettstown, NJ. Burial will take place at the Union Cemetery in Hackettstown, NJ on April, 17.
