Mary Malavarca, age 89, of Heath Village, Hackettstown, NJ, formally of Bernardsville and South Orange, NJ died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center of Hackettstown, N.J. Mary was born August 17, 1923 in Kearny, NJ.
Mary was a parishioner of Our Lady Of The Mountain R.C. Church, Long Valley, NJ; during WW II she was a statistical draftsman for the Army Highly Classified Unit; she was an avid reader and artist; Mary helped save the Great Swamp in Morristown; Mary was a real estate broker; licensed interior decorator and worked undercover for the Burns Detective Agency.
She was a loving wife and mother and is survived by her husband: Louis Malavarca; sons Richard & wife Catherine Malavarca; Steven Malavarca; daughter: Joni and husband Kent Cowles; sister: Regina Brown; 4 Grandchildren, Lucas, Samantha, Jenna And Evan; late daughter in law, Janet Malavarca.
A memorial Mass will be held 12:30 pm on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Our Lady Of The Mountain Church, 2 E. Springtown Rd, Long Valley, NJ Burial is private.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 29 from 10:00 am - 12:00 Noon at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J.
