Ardys L. Culp, age 89, a lifelong resident of Hackettstown died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at home. Ardys was born March 5, 1929 in Plymouth, PA. to the late Foster and Martha (Reese) Shellhamer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Culp in 1992, a great grandchild, Chloe, 2 sisters, Elvira “Jean” Davis and Wilma “Billie” Smith.
She was previously employed by the House of the Good Shepherd, Hackettstown, NJ as a Dietary Aide. Ardys was a member of the Woman’s Moose Lodge, the Womans’ Auxilliary of the American Legion Post #164, Trinity United Methodist Church and TOPS #NJ0073 all of Hackettstown, NJ. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting and loved sports, especially the NY Yankees, Football and NASCAR. Jimmy Johnson was her favorite NASCAR driver.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Tammy Culp, Susan Bennett and husband Gary, Gail Brislin and husband Joseph, 2 sons, Dale Culp, Russell Culp and wife Kathleen Banghart-Culp, a sister, Lucille Williams and husband William, eleven grandchildren, Sonia, Richard, Robert and wife Tina, Wendy and husband Tim, Gary Jr., Heather, Deanna, Bridgette and husband Mike, Joey, Michele and husband Evan, Kiersten and 15 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Monday, April 9 at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Rev. Donald Gebhard officiating. Burial will be in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows following services.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 8 from 2-6 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 213 Main Street, Hackettstown, N.J. 07840 in memory of Ardys.
