Norman was one of my outstanding German students at The Adult School of Madison, Chatham and Florham Park. He and Marilyn attended every class, were never late and always did their homework. Given Norman's engineering background he was always able to add the scientific perspective to our discussions. We will be missed by me and his fellow classmates. Wir werden dich vermissen Norman!

Norm was a long time neighbor. He was kind and thoughtful and always willing to help when possible. He, Lamont, Edward Brown, and Jack Turney were car pool buddies in the early years of Exxon. Wishing Marilyn and the family all the best. Lots of good memories.

We have lost a great Engineer and Gentleman. Norm got us off the ground when Computers were first introduced in the Engineering world. We will all miss him.

I saw the notice about Norm Nelson in the August 29th Star-Ledger. While I am sorry to hear of his passing, I can only smile in remembering the kind and caring person who helped and encouraged me during the first five years of my professional career and later on as a colleague at ASME. I moved on from (then) Esso Research and Engineering to another mostly academic career but was always happy to see and chat with Norm at ASME and university events. I see he left a large and loving family and wish them all happy remembrances of a good man.
