Nancy Colburn Stevens

Nancy Colburn Stevens, 91, of Hackettstown, NJ entered God’s eternal kingdom on May 23,
2020. Nancy was the daughter of Claire and Harold L. Colburn and was born and raised in Montclair, NJ. A brother, Harold Colburn, Jr, predeceased her. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, William Stevens.

She met “Bill,” who was attending Lehigh University, on a double date. They were married on June 18, 1949. Nancy and Bill resided for many years in Caldwell, NJ where they raised their three daughters. Her daughters remember spending many wonderful family vacations at Cape Cod and Harvey Cedars, Long Beach Island, NJ.
Nancy and Bill were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Caldwell where Nancy volunteered at their Serrv Shop. Nancy was a skilled sewer and knitter. She loved crafts of all types including stained glass art, decoupage and many others. In her later years, jigsaw puzzles were a favorite pastime. Nancy was very fond of her dogs, Jennifer, a Springer Spaniel, Melodie and Jazz, Papillions, and Melodie II, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Nancy and Bill traveled extensively spending time in Bermuda, Hawaii and made several trips abroad. In their retirement years, Nancy and Bill had homes in Colorado and Texas.
She is remembered by her family for her generosity, thoughtfulness and devotion to her family. Surviving are their three loving daughters and sons-in-law: Deborah and Gary Albrecht, Sandra and Glenn Brackmann and Valerie Shingledecker; four grandchildren and their spouses: Jason and Jennifer Molony, Heather and Patrick Rich, Andrew and Emily Brackmann, and Kelsey and Charles Kernstock; and 10 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The House of the Good Shepherd, Shepherd’s Fund, 798 Willow Grove St, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
Due to the current environment a private family service will be held at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
