Helen Danitz, age 88, of, Belvidere, NJ died Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Karen Ann Quinlan in Fredon, NJ. Helen was born September 4, 1931 in Oxford, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Rudolph and Mary (Burke) Otten. Helen was also predeceased by two brothers Charles Otten, and Edward Otten and a sister Mary Otten Stothoff .
Helen was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt to her family.
She graduated from Jersey City Medical Center and worked as an X-ray technician at Muhlenburg Hospital in Plainfield NJ and also Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ. She then completed her education at Trenton State College and received her B.S. in Education. She co-founded Lakeside Preschool in Mt. Lake, NJ in 1973 and later founded Liberty Learning Center and was owner/Director until 2000 when she retired.
Helen enjoyed music, art, museums and visiting NYC. She enjoyed many family vacations with her family at the Jersey Shore. She loved tennis, golf, The Yankees and the NY Giants. She loved living at Mt. Lake and was a member of the Mt. Lake Ladies Auxillary and the Liberty Township Environmental Commission. She served on the Warren County Election Board as a district poll worker for many years. She was a member for many years with the "Shake It Up" exercise group in Hackettstown, NJ. She also attended Tia Chi classes. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Belvidere, NJ and a volunteer at the local food bank.
She is survived by a sister; Kathleen Lamb and husband Robert, daughter; Lauren Toro and Husband Richard, son Robert Danitz and wife Tammy, daughter; Judy McDonnell and husband Jerry. Helen was blessed with seven grandchildren, Brad (wife Erica), Kristen, Jared, Ryan, Andrew, Rachel and Matthew and two great grandchildren Natalie and Brody as well as beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation Sunday February 16, 2020 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840
A Graveside Service will be held Monday February 17, 2020 at 11:00 am at Hazen Cemetery in Belvidere, NJ.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Karen Ann Quilan Hospice Foundation, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860 in memory of Helen.
