Janet L. Gannon, 77, of Long Valley, NJ died on the afternoon of January 12th.
Janet lived in Long Valley her entire life. Her work and involvement in the school system and neighborhood will leave an everlasting mark on the Long Valley community. Her greatest and most cherished work started with Angel Harris at Old Farmer’s Road School and progressed to her long service with the special education department at West Morris Central High School. This work remained close to heart over most of her 77 years, most recently including a special relationship with Robyn Bridgeman through ARC. Janet was unfailingly kind, a frequent blood donor with a passion for New Jersey, Bruce Springsteen and country music, the beach and Penn State. But none of that could come close to the love she had and the joy she experienced being G.G. to her great-grandson, Austen James.
Her death was preceded by the passing of her beloved husband and soulmate of 44 years, Richard K. Gannon, SR. (Fuzzy). She was also preceded by elder brother, Jerome Bolmer; and brother, Melvin Bolmer;
She was sister to: brother, Robert Bolmer; sister, Marie Bolmer; and half-brother, Ed Messler, aunt to: Noel Bolmer; and Jesse Bolmer;
Mother to four children: eldest son, Richard K. Gannon, Jr. (Fuzzy Jr.); daughter ,Wendy L. Gannon; son, Brian K. Gannon; and daughter, Dawn M. Hup;
Nanny to three grandchildren: eldest granddaughter, Dawn Marie Gannon; grandson, Martin Hup IV; and granddaughter, Sheila Theresa Hup; and G.G. to her pride and joy, great-grandson, Austen James.
There will be viewings on Thursday, January 18th from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840, the funeral service will take place on Friday, January 19th at 11am at the funeral home.
The family asks that along with or in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Janet’s memory to The Penn State Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON) at THON.donordrive.com.

We are heartbroken over Janet's passing. She was such a kind, loving person who was like a grandmother to our special children. As we were out of town, we were unable to go to the wake or funeral, but we want the family to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers. Our condolences to the family. Janet will be greatly missed by all of us.

To the Gannon Family: Our sincere and heart felt condolences to you. We have known Janet and the family for many years. She was the most pleasant and enjoyable person to be around. Always upbeat even when in pain. She was funny, never shy to share a story, especially ones about the fun she had growing up. We will miss her and will never forget her kindness, hugs and laughter. Another beautiful soul has left us and although we are sad to know she's gone we will always cherish the memories and the good times we shared. Rest In Peace Janet!!

Heaven gained a beautiful soul in Mrs. Gannon. She was such a wonderful person, a blessing to my sister Robyn and a "third grandmother" to my girls, Holly and Allison. We are all devastated by this loss. Rest in peace.

Janet was a beloved member of the WMC school family. She was always so gentle and kind to everyone and we were never greeted without Janet's trademark smile. May your memories sustain you through your sorrow.

We were co-workers of Janet at Long Valley Middle School and West Morris Central, so we first met her when she was a teacher's aide working with special needs children. She was one of the finest professionals we ever encountered. Seeing Janet caring for youngsters who needed her patience, understanding and kindness provided lessons for us every day. Daily she attended to the ordinary routine tasks and chores cheerfully, with a smile and warm greeting for everyone, and made school a warm and welcoming experience for her students. We are especially saddened by her passing. Knowing Janet and working with her enriched our lives, and we will fondly remember her.

My sincere condolences to Janet's family. Janet and I were both in the same Commercial courses at Hackettstown HS. We had a lot of fun and cherished our time there. But we met again 28 years ago when I moved to Long Valley and went to an auction place on Schooley's Mtn. When my mother went to pay for her purchase, the person at the desk said do you have a daughter named Janet. I was standing next in line and said I am Janet. We had a good laugh and a nice chat. I purchased a beautiful Oak China Cabinet which is one of my treasured items. She also came to a few of my garage sales. I am very sad to hear of her passing.
