Elbert Huselton, 98, entered into eternal life on August 27, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Stuart) and his children, Jane Day (Barry), James E. (Mary Rose), John K. (Patricia) and Joseph D. (Paula); his 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Marjory Clinton (Fred) and sisters in law, Julia Ann Rice and Peggy Stuart. He is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Laura and his brother, Joseph.
“El” was born and raised in East Orange, NJ. He graduated with Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from Lafayette College and entered the Army in WWII. During the war, he worked on the “Manhattan Project” in Los Alamos. He was a 33 year resident of Morris Plains before retiring in 1980 to go live full time at his beloved Lake Hopatcong home. He was a deacon of the Morris Plains Presbyterian Church and active with the Boy Scout program with his 3 sons. Even after his sons finished the scouting program, he sat on the Eagle Scout Board of Review for many years. He was a retired Commander of the Lake Hopatcong Power Squadron and taught the boating program for many years. As an avid boater he enjoyed sailing, canoeing and kayaking.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday, August 30 from 7 to 9 pm. Both the visitation and Thursday, August 31st 10 am Funeral service will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home on 905 High Street Hackettstown, NJ. Following the Thursday morning service there will be graveside services in Stone Church, PA. There will be a luncheon to follow at the Riverton Restaurant in Riverton, PA.
