Anna  Hlavka
Died: Apr 9, 2019
Hlavka

Anna Elizabeth Hlavka passed peacefully on April 9, 2019, at the age of 91.  She was born in 1928, in Little York, NY, and was a Mayflower descendant (9th generation granddaughter) of William Bradford, Governor of Plymouth Colony.   She and her husband, George, were long-time residents of Warren, NJ.

Anna was an avid cook and an exceptional gardener.  She was a passionate reader her whole life, ranging far and wide in subject, she especially loved her thrillers and crime novels.  She treasured art, antiques, museums, and yard sales.  She was a true theatre buff.  She also appreciated architecture and home styles, and spent several years in real estate sales.

She was married 62 years to her loving husband, George, who passed in 2016.  Her siblings, James, Louis, and Wanita predeceased her, as well as her beloved son-in-law, Michael.  She is survived by her daughters, Ellen Figueredo, Patricia Hendricks and husband Robert, and Kathleen Friden and husband Phillip, as well as her four grandchildren, Christopher Kornicke, Erik Friden, Emily Friden, and Andy Friden.

Anna had a wry sense of humor.  She told her nurse, “Just make sure I’m really dead”.   Feisty to the last, she will be deeply missed.

There will be a memorial mass offered for both Anna and George at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel in Warren, NJ on November 26th, 2019 at 9:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a favorite charity.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. 07840.  Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.cochranfuneral.com/

Our hearts and prayers go out to the entire family for the loss of Anne whom we remember with fond memories and the best fishing tales that George and Ed would tell of their adventures at sea. She will be deeply missed and please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers at this time of sorrow, but know she and George are in a much better place at this time. Until we meet again... In Deepest Sympathy, Ed, Ann, and Eddie Grohe (from Florida)
