Irene Stia, age 95, of Allamuchy Township, Hackettstown died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ. Irene was born May 1, 1918 in Rutherford, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Frieda (Gleitzman) Staw. She was predeceased by her husband, Late Frank J. Stia in 2004. She retired from the Saddlebrook Board of Education as an Administrative Secretary retiring in 1988. Irene maintained many long term friendships. She volunteered at the Hackettstown Hospital Gift Shop for the last 20 years right up until the snows started flying this month. She was a avid reader and the poster girl on the last January's Warren County Library/Northeast Branch's "READ" program. She is survived by Irene A. Stia "Jr." and husband John Chemerynski; Janet Stia Shellenhamer and husband Keith; and Kathleen Stia Schroeder and husband Wayne. She was also blessed with five grandchildren: David Shellenhamer (wife Stacey): Scott Shellenhamer (wife Brittany); Matthew Shellenhamer, Jasmine and Jade Schroeder; and three great granddaughters: Averie Rose Shellenhamer, Nicolette Chemerynski and Alexis Prosser. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 30 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. with Father David Pekola officiating. Burial will be in Tranquility Cemetery, Tranquility, NJ. Irene will be lovingly remembered for her unwavering family devotion and selfless dedication to those she held close to her heart.
