Thomas J. Collins
Died: Oct 4, 2019
Tom was born in Hampton, VA on December 20th 1953, he was the son of the late Bert Williard Collins and Alice Freda (Brewster) Collins.
Tom received both his undergraduate degree and Masters in Education from William Patterson University. Tom taught English at Long Valley Middle School before becoming Assistant Principal. He went on to become the Principal of both, Long Valley Middle school and Flocktown Road School.

In addition, Tom leaves his four beloved brothers, Kirt (Pat) Collins of Topeka, KS, Bert (Faye) Collins of Oxford, NJ, Gary Collins of Silver Spring, MD, and Carson (Sharon) Collins of Springfield, TN.

Although I only knew Tom for a short time, I found him to be a wonderful boss, an incredibly gifted educator, a great friend, and most importantly, a wonderful human being. He was extremely caring and always went the extra mile to do right by his staff, students and anyone else who was fortunate enough to work with him. I found him to be the consummate professional, and always full of great wisdom to share in times of need. I will sincerely miss him and I offer my deepest condolences to the family. With sympathy, Herb Mauro

Tommy was a good man with a big heart. He loved people, especially his family and students. I spent much time in his home and was thankful to know him and was helped by him many times. I pray for the comfort of his loved ones, knowing that he was much too young to be gone now. Many struggle in life and we don't realize it because they hide it from us. It reminds me of the need to connect with people and help them where they're at instead of thinking where they should be. May the peace of Christ be with Tommy's daughters and family.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

When I think about Tom and the many and varied attributes he possessed a song lyric calls to mind;" If I could be like that"! successful father, husband, teacher and friend. He will be sorely missed, as who was enhanced us all.

What a shock to learn of your Dad's passing! I knew Tom through working at LVMS but also through church where Bob and I came to know him and your mother very well.
I feel sadness and joy together because he is home with his Lord & Savior.
