The family moved to Great Meadows when Ed was 10 years old. Ed graduated from Hackettstown High School and attended Louisiana State University for two years and then interrupted his college education to serve our nation. He enlisted in the United States Navy, completed officer’s training school at Harvard University and then served four years active duty during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy with a rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, Ed completed his college education at the University of Arizona where he was a member of the Alpha Zeta Honorary Fraternity. After graduating college, Ed served in the United States Naval Reserve until 1953. He is a member of the VFW Post 164 in Hackettstown.
As a young man, Ed travelled the entire nation and was able to spend some time in every state except three. He worked in the family produce/trucking business and operated a spot at the Trenton Farmers Market for many years.
After retirement, Ed lived in the Mountain Lake area of Belvidere and volunteered for the Warren County Arc. He then moved to Chelsea and Brookfield Assisted Living in Belvidere and finally to the Forest Manor Health Care Center.
Edward is survived by his devoted daughter, Luann Wojcik and her mother, Stella, his faithful friend, Paul Terick and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to thank all of Ed’s caregivers over the years, especially those who cared so lovingly for him at Hackettstown Community Hospital, Chelsea Assisted Living @ Brookfield in Belvidere and finally at Forest Manor Health Care Center in Hope.
