Jeanne Rose Beresford nee McCann,92, passed away on Jan 9th after a brief illness at Heath Village with Compassionate Care Hospice and her family by her side
Born June 14th in Paterson NJ to Robert and Georgiana McCann. She lived 82 years in Totowa Borough and the last 10 years in Liberty Township in Warren County.
Jeanne went to Memorial School in Totowa and graduated from Passaic Valley High School in 1943. She lettered in field hockey, basketball and softball. She played on a travelling Totowa girls basketball team, too. She was Girls' Show White Chief in 1943.
Jeanne worked at NJ Bell until the birth of her children. She was a daughter, wife, mother, aunt, gram, GG and homemaker. In her free time, Jeanne liked to cross stitch, make latch hook rugs and bake.
She recently received her 70 year pin from the Stella Chapter #20 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a brownie leader for 25 plus years for her daughters and granddaughter. She touched the lives of many young girls at the Totowa United Methodist Church brownie troop. She belonged to the Christ Episcopal Church in Totowa as well as Westside United Methodist Church in Paterson.
During retirement, she and her husband travelled to the 48 contiguous states. She was an avid gardener and had a green thumb taking care and nurturing her plants and flowers.
Her most special memories are the times at the family's summer home on Lake Hopatcong. This was truly her "HAPPY PLACE".
She was predeceased by her husband, Roland of 62 years, her son, William (Billy) and her grandson, Shaun.
She is survived by her daughters Carol Beck and her husband, John of Shelby, NC, Lynne Rutkoski and her husband, Joe of Great Meadows, NJ, She is also survived by her granddaughter Beverly Langevin and her husband Tom Loscalzo, Grandsons Robert Langevin and Ryan and Jonathan Rutkoski. Her special great granddaughter, Emma. She also leaves a great grandson William. Her extended family includes her nephew, Jeff Conklin and her niece Leslie and her husband Luther Van Pelt and their three children Jennifer, Alyssa and Michael.
A private cremation will be held.
A Celebration of Her Life will be planned for the Summer of 2019 at the "LAKEHOUSE"
