Charles Almer Van Horn

Charles A. Van Horn, age 88, of Washington Township, (Warren Co.) Washington, NJ died Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Easton Hospital, Easton, PA. Charles was born July 15, 1923 in Allamuchy, NJ. He is the son of the late Garret and Clara (Almer) Van Horn.

He was employed by Ingersoll-Rand, Rock Drill Division, Phillipsburg, NJ as a Technician.
In his early years he worked on the family farm in Allamuchy. He graduated from Hackettstown High School, Class of 1943. He spent some time at a heavy equipment school in Chicago, ILL, following this he worked as a Drill Technician for the Ingersoll-Rand  Rock Drill Division, traveling to many places in Europe and the 50 United States. Charles was a member of the FFA in Hackettstown, NJ as a youth and was a member of the Senior Nutrition Program in Belvidere, NJ. Charles was of the Methodist faith; he loved and spent many hours working in his garden and completing the daily puzzles; he had an incredible memory and he also enjoyed traveling and taking photos of places that he went to. Charles loved and was very proud of his family. He will be sadly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife: Muriel L. (Angst) Van Horn: three Sons, David Van Horn,Washington Township, NJ; Lee Van Horn, Washington Township, NJ and Joel Van Horn, Brick Township, NJ; He also has five Grandchildren, Amanda Fisher Van Horn, Joel Van Horn, Kim White, Joshua And Jeremiah White; 4 Great Grandchildren, Raymond, Sadie, Siera And Jayden. He is predeceased by a Sister-Anna M. Doncheski, a Brother-John G. Van Horn and 2 Sister-in-laws-Hilda Angst and Betty Angst.

The funeral will be held 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. Burial will be in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ

Calling hours will be Monday, July 9 from 4:00 - 8:00PM at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J..
