Marcel L. Simonet
Died: Dec 31, 2016
Simonet
Marcel L. Simonet, 70, went Home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2016.  Born March 30, 1946 in NY, he grew up in the city spending summers in the Catskill Mountains where he began his love of the outdoors. He proudly served his country when he was drafted in the US Army for two years.  He was deployed overseas to Vietnam and courageously served as a Forward Observer during his deployment. He was retired after a long successful career in the insurance industry.  Marcel fulfilled his dream last year of having his cabin in the woods in upstate NY and made many great memories there over the last year.  He was an amazing husband, father, grandpa, uncle, brother and friend. He would do anything for anyone without hesitation. Every adversity in his life he faced courageously, optimistically and humorously. Marcel was a very proud man and always taking care of others. He was a true hero in every sense of the word. He will be loved, missed and honored forever. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Irene and his sisters Gail, Betty and Jane. Surviving are the love of his life, his wife, Krista Simonet; Daughter and Son in Law Danielle and Chris Boukedes of Charlotte NC; Daughter and Son in Law Jennifer and Darin Maund of  Great Meadows NJ; Granddaughters Erin, Ella, Zoey and Keely; Sister Joyce Simonet;  His nieces and nephews and his beloved “sons” his dogs, Zeke and Dexter. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to BeTheMatch.org or the Wilmington NY Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department PO BOX 425 Wilmington NY 12997. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday January 14th  2017 at Rockport Presbyterian Church 395 Rockport Road Port Murray NJ.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cochran Funeral Home Inc, 905 High Street Hackettstown NJ 07840.  Those wishing to leave online condolences may do so at www.cochran funeral.com.

Such a Blessing for me and my family to have Marcel and our families united. Uncle is not the term I would have picked but brother is more like it for me. His humor, family love and dedication were always an inspiration. The love and kindness he showed and expressed for my Mother and Dad was so meaningful that words could not describe. You are missed. Marcel. I love you.

Marcel was the genuine article! Kind and generous. Dealing with his health issues with style and grace and keeping his sense of humor through it all. We are so sorry for his passing. Rest in peace Marcel. Sending hugs and love and prayers to Krista and his family.

We were greatly saddened to hear of Marcel's passing. Another one of "the good guys" has gone on to be with the Lord. Marcel was one of the kindest men I have ever known. You could always count on him to brighten up any crowd just by his presence. One of those guys that WOULD "give you the shirt off of his back" if you were in need. There will be a little less laughter "down here" but heaven has just gotten a lot brighter. God Bless you Marcel.
