Eskil Scott Danielson
Died: Jan 16, 2016
Director of Communications and 9-1-1
Warren County Department of Public Safety
E. Scott Danielson, 49 of Andover Boro, died suddenly while serving his community as an EMT on an automobile accident response in Byram Township on January 16th. He served for over 35 years with the Lakeland Emergency Squad and was the immediate past chief.
Professionally, Scott was recognized as an expert in public safety communications and had managed the Warren County 9-1-1 Center for over 10 years. He joined the center when it opened decades ago and rose through the ranks. He was also a member of the county Hazardous Materials Response Team. He had previously served the Sussex-Morris Regional, Bernardsville, Morris County and NJ State Police communications centers.
Scott was serving his third term on the Andover Borough Council serving the town also as emergency management and 9-1-1 coordinator. He had been a firefighter on the Andover Borough Fire Department and a deputy district warden with the NJ Forest Fire Service.
Scott graduated from Lenape Valley RHS and attended Sussex County Community College studying criminal justice and EMS. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with BSA Troop #276 and Explorer Post #231 in Byram. He graduated from the Sussex County Police Academy as a special officer with Byram PD and completed the intense Certified Public Manager Program through Rutgers.
Scott was an expert in the field of police/fire/EMS grantsmanship having successfully acquired several million dollars in funding for communications equipment and fire and EMS vehicles in Sussex and Warren Counties. When asked to help, he couldn’t say no.
He was a frequent writer/contributor for First Response News. His stories were succinct and covered both EMS and fire incidents and events.
An avid sports fan, he followed NASCAR, the Yankees, the Miami Dolphins and the NJ Devils. He followed his children as they carried on the family sport - competitive bowling.
Scott leaves his loving family: His wife Tammy Lynn (nee Sweller), son USAF SSGT Aaron and his wife Kelly of Pemberton and daughters Amanda Lynn and Alycia Marie at home. He was the son of Eskil “Skip” and Judy Danielson of Byram and son-in-law of Donna Sweller of Newton. Scott is survived by brother Kevin and his wife Cindy of Hackettstown and brother Eric and wife Debbie of Andover Township. He also leaves nephews Kyle, Patrick, Matthew and Ryan.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:00 am, at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Burial will be at Locust Hill Cemetery, 168 North Sussex Street, Dover, NJ 07801 following the funeral service.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Danielson and Scott's entire family, I was so saddened to hear about Scott's passing. Scott and I shared many hours of our youth together and those times will always be very special to me. I always appreciated Scott's dedication to public service and know that service honored those around him. I cannot begin to imagine what you are feeling but I pray that you are comforted in knowing that he served so many. Rest in peace old friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Judy and Skip, words cannot adequately convey my sorrow upon learning of Scott's untimely demise. He was a vibrant and unparalleled contributing member of our community and had always given so much of himself and his time to help others. The countless tributes he's receiving from people and organizations all over Sussex, Morris and neighboring counties speak volumes of the type of person that was Scott. He was a tireless, selfless servant always at the ready to give needed aid. He followed closely in the footsteps of his beloved parents and always thought of others before himself. I've heard so many good things about Scott from so many in the past few days. You are undoubtedly very proud of the wonderful person you raised. I'm sharing your pain and am keeping you, Scott's wife Tammy, his son Aaron, his daughter Amanda and Kelly in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Family, We have never met but I was just reading about the loss of your love one. My Husband is a Paramedic so I know all to well how much he will be missed as well as the people that he served. It takes a special kind of person to do what Scott did. He met all kinds but knew how to make them feel better quickly. Our deepest condolences to all you. You are in our thoughts and prayers. I am a big believer that the legacy of such great people will be passed on. It will continue through their children and grandchildren so Scott will be long remember. Keep his pictures close and when you look at them and see him smiling, it will help you smile back and ease the pain. I lost a brother many years ago but the pain is still there. I will always think of him not gone but just away and we will see him again someday. God needs him now but he will be always watching over all you.

As an EMS practitioner for >30 years, know that we mourn the loss of your father and husband as a member of an honorable institution. His legacy continues in his loving family and the scores of those who now carry on his work in EMS, not to mention the countless souls he touched while giving care.

To the Danielson family, my deepest sympathy to all of you. You don't know me but my daughter Gail worked with Scott at the 911 center. I think Scott trained her and she spoke so highly of all his knowledge of his work. Gail was a crossing guard in Hackettstown, and worked for the Allamuchy court system along with being on the fire police in Hackettstown and Allamuchy.
Gail passed away in 2012 of liver cancer. My prayers and thoughts are with all the family at this time.

Dear Judy, Skip and family,
We were shocked, stunned and deeply saddened to learn of Scott's untimely passing. It seems like only yesterday that our children grew up together in that wonderful Falcon Hills community. School, Scouts, Baseball and other community activities bring back fond memories and while we now reside in North Carolina part of our hearts still live in Byram. Our sympathies are hard to express in words but we sincerely offer them to you and to Scott's family.
We regret being unable to personally convey our thoughts at this time but we will attempt to meet with you next time we are in NJ.

The Danielson Family:
It is with much sadness that we send our heartfelt condolences to you all. Please know that I have held you all in the highest regard for the services and safety you have provided the people of Sussex and the surrounding Counties by volunteering your time and efforts for so many years. Scott, however, is held in highest esteem as, in addition to his community services, he was always there to help our family during its darkest days and through the 29 years since.
Our hearts and deepest sympathy go out to the entire Danielson family in this time of tremendous loss. Please know that his passing will, knowingly OR unknowingly, leave a void for all in our community. I know my Son and Daughter-in-Law will feel an emptiness not only in the loss of a squad “pal”, but more importantly, the close friendship that has been built and shared with Scott and his family throughout the years.
We will celebrate the life of a good man and are mourning his passing with you.
May God Bless you all.
Rest in Peace Scott.
