Rafaela Rojas-Alvarez, age 78, of 19 Canada Goose Drive, Panther Valley, Hackettstown died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Heath Village of Hackettstown, N.J..  Rafaela was born April 28, 1935 in Corosal,Puerto Rico . She is the daughter of the late Luis and the late Virginia (Lopez) Rojas. 

She was employed by Meca Electronics as an Electrical Tech. 

Rafaela Rojas-Alvarez, 78 Passed away on Mother's Day after a long battle with cancer. She was very special to her family and will be greatly missed.

She was born in Puerto Rico and moved to NY at the age of 16. In 1974, she moved herself and her family to NJ and has been there ever since.

She is survived by her son John Alvarez, daughter Diana Cook, 3 granddaughters Teresa Kuebler, Tammae Cook-Calicchio and Renae Alvarez, 2 grandsons Jonathan and Joffre Alvarez and an waiting great granddaughter Savanah Sage Calicchio due in June. Rafaela is also survived by 2 of her 8 siblings, sisters: Carmen Rojas and Margarita Rivera.

The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, May 16 at Tranquility Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1 Academy Lane, Tranquility, NJ with Rev Mark Jagitsch officiating.  Burial will be in Tranquility Cemetery, Tranquility on Thursday, May 16 at 11:00 am.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 15 from 4:00 - 8:00PM at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J.
