Thomas R. "Tom" Hansen, 92 of Long Valley, died Friday at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Oscar A. and Jennie Mitchell Hansen.
Tom had been a supervisor for New York Telephone for 38 years, retiring 30 years ago.
Tom spent 20 years living in Long Valley, then15 years in Brick moving back to Long Valley 7 years ago after the death of his beloved wife, Gertrude in October of 2006.
Tom had been a member of the Lions Head South Community Club, the Telephone Pioneers of America, the American Legion Post in Brick and Vasa Park in Budd Lake. He proudly served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII instructing pilots using the Link Trainer.
He is survived by a son Thomas J. Hansen and his wife Andrea; a daughter, Mary Ann Hendrickson and her husband, Timothy; a sister Lorraine Epp; two grandchildren, Lori Hansen and James Hansen and his wife Teri; also one great grandson, Grady James Hansen.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Tuesday from the Cochran Funeral Home 905 High Street, Hackettstown. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8pm at the funeral home. Donations in his name may be made to the Long Valley First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 111, Long Valley, NJ 07853 or a charity of your choice.
