Ellen  Haaheim

 Ellen Haaheim, a resident of Mt. Olive Township, Budd Lake, NJ, Vasa Park, died Tuesday, the 14th of August at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 5, 1927 in Skien, Norway.  She came to the United States with her family at the age of three and resided in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn where she lived until she was a young adult.

She spent much of her youth with her sister and friends at the Nor Bu Lodge in Lake Telemark, NJ where she met her late husband, Ingvard Haaheim and married November 4, 1950.  They started their life together in Marcella, NJ where they lived for the next 39 years before retiring to Walton, NY. She moved to Mt. Olive, NJ to be near her children after the passing of her husband in 2002.

She enjoyed being part of the ladies’ group at Vasa who enjoyed luncheons, Friday night suppers and playing cards.  Ellen was an avid accordion player and entertained at many people’s homes and parties.   In her younger years, she was very active with the Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her sister, Ingi Baadshaug, son Arne Haaheim, daughter, Ingrid Cunningham and daughter and son-in-law Karen and Walter Ausland  five grandchildren, David Cunningham, Daniel Cunningham and Dustin Cunningham, Jamie Ausland and Lisa Ausland and two great grandchildren, Ava Cunningham and Kenneth Cunningham.

Funeral services will be private.  Memorial gifts can be made to New Jersey Vasa Home, 92 Wolfe Road, Budd Lake, NJ 07828. Arrangements are under the direction of Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ. Online condolences may be posted at cochranfuneral.com.
