George was my mother's cousin. My mother, Pauline Murphy Briggs Baily, passed in 2013. She spoke fondly of living with her cousin's in Detroit...so many stories always brought a smile to her face.

George and his lovely wife Virginia came into our lives twenty years ago when he stayed with us in England some fifty years after he had served his country in helping the United Kingdom to defeat Germany in the second world war. This was the start of a wonderful friendship when we became his "English family". George was a wonderful man and one of the last of lifes gentlemen. As we flew home from a holiday in Turkey only a few days ago, we envisaged him sitting on the clouds, smiling contentedly with Virginia and other members of his family. We loved him so much.

Friends and family of George, We had the pleasure and honour of getting to meet George some years back when he was over here in The Netherlands. It was an inspiring visit and we can only assume that they are now up there, together with my grandfather, being and doing what they did best. Great human beings. They will forever be remembered. Wishing you all the best.

Are thoughts are of George and his family at this time. George came over to England to stay with us 20 years ago for the 50th aniversery of the D-Day landings, and we returned to visit him 2 years ago. I have to say he was the nicest, most gentlemanly man I have ever met. We were hoping to come to the funeral but read that it was today so unfortunately couldn't make it . RIP George . Love Harry, Bob, Robert, Lyn and Teddy x
