Virginia Hannah Schmeal, 92, died , Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Heath Village, in Hackettstown, N.J. Virginia was a lifelong and proud New Jersey resident, born Oct. 10, 1921 to the late Rev. Robert Caspar and Gladys Lintner. She graduated from Columbia High School and later attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Virginia married Charles Frederick Schmeal September 28, 1945 by her father, Rev. Robert Caspar Lintner. Virginia had worked briefly as a newspaper reporter before spending the majority of her career with Avon Products as a supervisor. After retiring from Avon, Virginia and Fred moved to Heath Village, a retirement community that they called home since 1987, that took wonderful care of them in their later years. They also enjoyed traveling and spent many years wintering in Florida.
Virginia was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hackettstown, N.J., a church her father led when she was growing up and was close to her and Fred’s heart. To show their gratitude for the church, they endowed the Schmeal Conference Room. Virginia, a devout Christian, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by a brother, Robert David Lintner. Survivors include a son Charles Frederick and wife Nancy of Owensboro; grandchildren Jamie Wellman and husband Gerald, Kellie Schmeal, and a great grandchild, Jackson Park Wellman all of Nashville, TN.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, Owensboro, with the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Eric Carroll officiating. In addition there will sldo be a memorial service at Heath Village Auditorium on August 7th, 2014 at 2pm following this service internment will take place at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows, N.J.
