Gordon A. Cox, 85, a lifelong resident of Hackettstown, NJ, died Monday, April 20, 2015 at House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown. Born May 22, 1929 in Hackettstown, Gordon was the son of the late Harold S. & Carrie Smith Cox.

Mr. Cox retired in 1994 from the Elastimold Corporation, Mansfield Twp, NJ where he worked for many years as the Mailroom Supervisor. In addition, he had previously worked at the Wm. G. Vey & Son car dealership of Hackettstown as a mechanic from 1950 to 1975 and also the Centenary College Maintenance Department in Hackettstown.

Gordon was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hackettstown and the Trinity Men’s Club. He proudly served our country in the New Jersey National Guard Armor Division from 1949 to 1955.  In his spare time, Gordon loved to go fishing and being outdoors in nature.

He is survived by two daughters; Cindy Kelshaw of Branchville, NJ & Linda Warren of Andover, NJ. One loving Granddaughter, Andrea. Gordon was predeceased by his loving wife, Gladys Sheets Cox in 2003; One brother, Harrison Cox and one sister, Connie Popovich.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, NJ, 07840 from 3pm to 7pm.  Funeral services will be 10am Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Main Street, Hackettstown, NJ.  Interment will take place at the Union Cemetery in Hackettstown.  Those wishing to make a donation in Gordon’s name are asked to please consider giving to the church. I was so saddened to see of Mr. Cox passing, and to his family I can only say one of the gentlest men I have known has been called home to the LORD. I have no words to that will comfort you all in this time of mourning, and ask that our FATHER in Heaven grant you the comfort HE alone can provide. Our Town has truly lost a kind & gentleman. Dear Cindy, Al, Linda and Andrea, We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad/grandpa. He was so very special to a lot of people. We and our children send our love and are happy that "Pa" and "Ma" are reunited even though it is painful for us to be left behind. Wish we could be there to say good-bye.
