 John J. Rattie, age 81, of Hackettstown, NJ formerly of  Abington, PA  died Monday, May 26, 2014 at St. Clare’s Hospital of Dover, NJ.  John was born April 2, 1933 in Shenandoah, PA. He is the son of the late Michael and the late Clara (Sheva) Rattie.  He was predeceased by his wife, Elisabeth (Sünderhauf), his brother, Michael and his sister, Regina Rattie. 

 He was retired from the Delaware River Basin Commission, Ewing NJ as a Civil Engineer, he enjoyed fishing and traveling.  Mr. Rattie was a member of the Joyce Kilmer Knights of Columbus Council #2483, a trustee of Augustus J. Rampone Assembly 4th Degree for the past 3 years, and a member of the American Legion, Hackettstown, NJ Post #164.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristina Braga and her husband Damian; his companion, Mary Gerhold; 2 grandchildren, Elizabeth & Matthew; and 2 dear friends, John Takacs & Frank Yacobowski.

The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Friday, May 30 at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Father David Pekola officiating.  Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester, NJ.

Calling hours will be Thursday, May 29 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hackettstown Knights of Columbus, Joyce Kilmer Council # 2483, 142 Liberty Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840 in memory of John.
