Richard L. Carpenter, 89, of Hackettstown, NJ, died Friday July 13, 2018 at his home. Born September 11, 1928 in Hackettstown, Richard was the son of the late Lester & Mabel Miller Carpenter. He was a lifelong resident of Hackettstown. Prior to his retirement, Richard had been employed by the former Acme of Hackettstown and then by the M&M Mars as a line worker retiring in 1993.
Richard was a life member of the Vigilant Hook and Ladder Company of Hackettstown and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing and spending time with friends and family.
Richard is survived by his wife Milsie (Bullard) Carpenter; a daughter Terry Carpenter of Hackettstown, NJ; A Granddaughter, Patricia Carpenter of Hackettstown, NJ; A Great Granddaughter Lyla Carpenter of Hackettstown and his “adopted son” and best friend, John Smith of Hackettstown, NJ. Richard was predeceased by brothers Marvin, Robert and James Carpenter.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 7:00pm in the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ, 07840. A memorial visitation will be prior to the service from 5:00 pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s name to the following; Hackettstown Vigilant Hook & Ladder, Hackettstown Rescue Squad or the Trinity United Methodist Church of Hackettstown, NJ. Dear Milsie and Terry,
Sorry to hear of Dick's passing he will be missed by all. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Milsie I was the crossing guard in the late 70's at the high school crossing. We used to talk a lot. I know live in Florida and lost my husband Jim in 2009.
