Horace P.  Gormley, Jr.
Died: Apr 26, 2019
Gormley, Jr.

Horace P. “Bud”  Gormley, Jr., 88, of Hackettstown, NJ, passed away at his residence with his loving daughter, Leigh Ann Sabia at his bedside. Born in Atlanta, GA in October 29, 1930, Bud was the son of the late Horace P. & Julia Ramey Gormley, Sr.

Bud retired many years ago as the National Account Manager at Hoffman LaRoche Inc. in Nutley, NJ. Prior to his employment Bud served in the United States Army as a Staff Sgt. while serving in Korea. He graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Chemistry.

Bud retired early from Hoffman LaRoche to dedicate his life to his wife, Mary and his newborn grandson Stephen. This way, he would have no distractions or commitments to anyone except his family and most importantly, his grandson, Stephen. After the passing of his beloved wife,he made it clear that he simply wanted to be with Mary and meet his Holy savior God. He was prepared for his journey. An exceptionally caring person, Bud was known as the "card man"; if he heard that someone was sick or had passed away, he would always send a card to that person or family even if he didn't know them. It was important to him that the world knew he was concerned about everyone all the time. Whether a stray cat needed to be taken in, (14 in his life to be exact) or a person he could help in any way. While living Heath Village, he would even send a monthly card to the groundskeepers for the beautiful grounds and for the flowers!

Bud is survived by his devoted daughter, Leigh Ann Sabia of Newton, NJ and one loving grandson, Stephen P. Sabia. In addition, he is survived by former son-in-law Vito J. Sabia and  many Nieces & Nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Rhodes Gormley in 2016.

My thought and prayers are with you. Mr. Gormley was a kind person with a wonderful sense of humor and I looked forward to seeing him every time he came into the office. He wouldn’t just make me chuckle-I would laugh out loud. He will be very much missed, but he is with our Loving God, in His embrace. I know he missed Mary very much, so now they are together again, forever.

Dear Leigh Ann, My heartfelt condolences on the passing of your father. I have known him for 10 years through the chiropractor's office & can say that we always looked forward to seeing him. He had a story to tell or a funny comment to make that made us laugh. Each visit he would take out his checkbook but ask us " so, how much do you owe me!" What a sweet & kind man...he will be sadly missed but I know he's in a better place now. God bless him. He will be in my prayers. Sincerely, Maryann (from SMCC)
