Our beloved mother, Elizabeth Ann Sturtevant, 102,  passed away peacefully at the House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown, NJ on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 with her family by her side.  Elizabeth was born in Rockaway, NJ on May 22, 1915 to the late John Vincent and Barbara (Onca) Yosh. 


During her long life, Mrs. Sturtevant resided in Rockaway, Denville, Budd Lake and Hackettstown, NJ.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and homemaker, who enjoyed gardening, cooking, and keeping in touch with her family and friends.

She was a member of St. Jude's Church in Budd Lake, NJ before moving to Hackettstown for 28 years.

Mrs. Sturtevant is survived by one daughter, Gladys Shea two sons, Robert J. Sturtevant and partner Helen Blide, Alan E. Sturtevant and his wife Jeannie, 9 Grandchildren, and 12 Great Grandchildren.

 
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Robert D. Sturtevant.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Jude’s Church, 17 Mount Olive Road, Budd Lake, N.J. 07828.  Burial will be in Somerset Hills Cemetery, Basking Ridge on Saturday, January 13, 2018.

 

Calling hours will be Friday, January 12, 2018 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. 07840. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Elizabeth Sturtevant to:  House of the Good Shepherd Christmas Fund 2018.  The entire staff there has treated Mrs. Sturtevant with loving care.

Dear Gladys, Bobby, Alan and all of Aunt Betty's Loved Ones - My sincerest condolences to you all who took such wonderful, loving care of your Mother and Grandmother. Aunt Betty was a tremendously kind woman with a bright spark of life in her always. I just mailed her a thinking of you card that should have arrived around January 6th. I will miss her gentle voice & sweet words, and inspiring ways! We had such FUN on our last visit with her with Aunt Joanne, Barbara, myself and my sister, Serena. My prayers are with you all.

Dear Gladys, Bobby, Alan and the entire family- Our sympathy goes out to all of you for your loss. We will always remember your mother's love of life. She would laugh and tell us that "Betty goes where the bus goes" We have made a donation to the Christmas fund in her memory,We would like to thank all the staff at "the House of the Good Shepherd" for the great care that was given to her for so many years.
