Richard T. Kennedy, 79, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Forest Manor in Frelinghuysen Township, NJ. Richard was born in Hoboken, NJ on November 29, 1933 and is the son of the late Martin and Rose (Stratton) Kennedy.
Richard retired as a Crew Supervisor after 40 years with the NJ state Department of Transportation. He was a US Air Force veteran during the Korean War as an aircraft and engine mechanic. He was a member of Our Lady Of The Mountain Catholic Church, Schooley's Mountain, NJ.
He was a loving father to his son, Kevin and adored his "big boy" grandson, Ryan. He will be remembered by many relatives and friends whose lives he touched over the years.
Richard is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 48 years; his son Kevin and his wife, Lisa; grandson, Ryan; sister, Joan Rega, Waynesburg, PA; sister-in-law, June Jones, Spencer, West Virginia; also survived by many cusins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Lillian Schmelz and Dorothy; brothers, Martin, Robert, and John Thornton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013, 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady Of The Mountain R. C. Church, 2 East Springtown Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853.
Burial will follow in the Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ 07838.
For those desiring donations may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860 in memory of Richard.
