Evangeline B. Torres, age 87. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at her daughter's home in
Hackettstown, NJ surrounded by her loved ones. Evangline was born on December 19th, 1931, in Socorro,
New Mexico to Hermelindo Baca and Magdelena (Valenzula) Baca.
She is survived by her, son Rodney Torres of Edmond, Oklahoma and daughter Roslyn Gifford of Hackettstown, NJ. She also leaves behind five loving grandchildren. Brandy Demark, Danielle Briseno. Robert Mata, Eloisa Romero and husband Jason, and Felicia Casendino and husband Robert as well as seven great granddaughters, Lexington Demark, Shannon Briseno, Kelly Briseno, Taylei Romero, Tatum Romero, Frankie Casendino and Jayana Mata. She has two sister Prescilla Boca and Betty Alderete husband Jacinto.
Evangeline was a lifetime resident of Socorro. She was someone who spent her life helping those less fortunate
than her, entertaining her family and friends, and being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grand
mother ( Baca Baca and gramma grarnma). Her smile lit up every room she entered and everyone who knew her
will miss her, She was heavily involved in politics and unions. She spent her entire career as a educator for special needs children at Socorro Consolidated Schools, She was also a devoted member of the Harwood Methodist Church in Socorro.
Evangeline was preceded in death by her parents Hermelindo Baca and Magdelena (Valenzula) Baca. Her
beloved husband, Robert A. Torres, who she was married to for 59 years, her beloved daughter, Ronaele
DeYoung as well as many brothers and a sister.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make memorial contribution to the American Diabetes Association or the Lupus Foundation of America in memory of Evangeline.

I am a truck driver. I asked my mom how Mrs. Torres was doing and she told me she had passed away. When I heard that I was heart broken. I will miss her laugh I've known Mrs. Torres since I was in grade school when her and Mr. Torres were teachers. Rest in peace.
