From the years that I was married to Jim, I have fond memories of “Pop” from all those great family gatherings years ago in Diamond Hill. He was always such a fun person to be around and we will miss his great wit and charm. I extend my sincere condolences to all of you at what I know is a very sad and mournful time. I wish I had the opportunity to have known him more in his later years. I can see how his personality and strength has been passed into his sons, their children and great grandchildren… and in doing so; he lives on in all of you and those who loved him. For most of his life, he was active and strong as a horse, don’t you think? In that sense, he was very lucky. When I look around at men his age it is hard to find many who are as healthy as he was. You know that we all pray that our own passing will be swift and without pain. So he left this world in peace, serenity and with some dignity… that is good. It is always sad when we lose any member of our family whether we are close to that person or not because it is one less person left on earth that makes the family special. He lived a long and rewarding life and accomplished so much in his lifetime. I will always remember him as the hard working, loving and decent man that he was. My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you. May you find comfort in the outpouring of sympathy from all of us who share your loss. Please know that I am sharing your grief at this very sad and difficult time. In Deepest Sympathy, ~Linda Latella

My mother met "Dad" later in life. They were great together. They had a lot of fun traveling, bowling, golfing, playing cards with their group of friends. Dad even became quite a scrabble player! Dad welcomed me as a daughter. I will greatly miss our conversations and movies. He could still remember, almost 99% of the time all the actors and actresses. I am very glad I spoke with him and let him know how much he meant to me. Dad, I will always hold a special place in my heart and will miss you terribly.

When i married Barry, it was so easy to use "Dad" when I referred to Nick. He welcomed me into the Latella family with open arms. Even after Barry passed away he continued to send very personal cards for my birthdays and holidays and let me know that he welcomed visits and phone calls. He even tried to teach me how to play Pinocchole (a lost cause!). The last time I saw "Dad" he was his usual warm, welcoming self and said I should bring my husband, Bruce, over and we could all play cards! I am sad I did not get my birthday visit in. The Latella family is fortunate to have had such a wonderful father for so many years. He will definitely be missed!
