George Jones Jr, a lifelong resident of Long Valley, NJ passed away peacefully at Virginia’s House Respite Home in Belvidere, NJ on April 1, 2015.    He is the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Fulper) Jones.
 
Mr. Jones was one of the first police officers in Washington Township, Long Valley and a member of the Long Valley Fire Department.   He was a pilot and flight instructor and enjoyed golf and bowling.   Mr. Jones was one of the original founders of the Long Valley Food Pantry. He retired from Picatinny Arsenal in 1994.
 
He is survived by his beloved wife Ann Jones,   1 daughter, Bernice Mea of Long Valley, NJ and 1 son, George Randolph Jones of Sarasota, Florida, 1 Sister, Christine Selegna of Bedminster, NJ as well as many nephews and nieces and 1 Grandson,   Nick Mea of Summerlin, Nevada whom Mr. Jones was a wonderful grandfather and mentor. Roll Tide. With love and gratitude, we would like to thank Darleen and Mark Tranquilli and their staff at Selah Center for their loving and compassionate care of our beloved husband, father and grandfather.
 
The Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, April 12, at Selah Center, 443 Schooley’s Mountain Road, Hackettstown, NJ.    In lieu of flowers, donations could be made in George’s name to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research, 1-800-259-4636. Arrangements were under the direction of the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
