Harold E Holbrook Sr, AKA “Spike”, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Tuesday May 14th 2019 at 2:35pm. He was 87.
Harold was one of 12 children born to Jennie Strowbridge and Ernest E. Hollbrook. In addition, Spike had 4 half siblings born to Jennie Strowbridge and George Sutton.
He married the now late Barbara E Allsop on November 1st, 1952. Barbara passed unexpectedly in 1976. He leaves behind 3 children, Donna Holbrook Appel Sherman of Hackettstown, NJ, Mark E Holbrook of Great Meadows, NJ and Harold E Holbrook Jr who resides in North Carolina. He also leaves behind 6 grand children; Barbara, Christal, Michelle, Andrea, Michael & Chelsea and 8 great grand children; Ava, Devin, Noah, Braeden, Fiona, Logan, Rilyn and Alyssa. All were adored and the angels in his life.
Spike remarried the now late Judith Ann Jasinski in 1979. Together they raised Judith’s three children, Chester, Julius and Anna.
He loved working in his yard and helping out at his church. He always had a special place in his heart for children and animals.
He lived on “the hill” in Glen Gardener for 50 years until recently when he moved to Hackettstown with his daughter and her husband Don. He was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
Harold died peacefully at Warren Haven Nursing Center in Oxford New Jersey. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Barbara on Friday, May 17th at 11:00am at Franklin Memorial Park Cemetery, 1800 State Route 27 (Lincoln Highway), North Brunswick NJ 08902. There will be a memorial service at 2:30pm the same afternoon at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ.
