Byram Twp., NJ – William (Bill) J. Levens, 77, passed away on September 16, 2013. Born to Henry and Mary (Basquil) Levens in Orange, NJ, Bill was a Sussex County resident since 1968.
Bill was a machinist at Automatic Switch Co. in Florham Park for 40 years. He also served in the National Guard and was a Member of Saint Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Netcong.
A dedicated volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, Bill was an active supporter of Boy Scout Troop 151 of Byram New Jersey since 1968 where he held many key roles including both Scoutmaster and Campmaster, and was instrumental in the development of many programs including Scouts with Special Needs. In 1992 Bill was nominated for and received the Silver Beaver Award for exceptional service to youth. Bill was also a proud member of the Order of the Arrow and recipient of the Vigil Honor Award for personal commitment and unselfish interest in the welfare of others.
Bill is survived by Eileen (Schnekenburger) his loving wife of 55 years, grandson Nik, daughter-in-law Barbara, sister-in-laws Kathy & Mary, and many very beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons David & Patrick, brothers John & Charles, sisters Margaret & Dolores and brother-in-law Joe.
Visitation will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. 07840 on Thursday, September 19th  from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church Netcong, NJ on Friday September 20th at 11am. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. 
Those interested in honoring Bill’s memory may direct donations to Patriots’ Path Council, BSA, Attention “Bill Levens MASR Camperships”, 1 Saddle Road, Cedar Knolls, NJ  07927. Funds will be used as scholarships to help scouts attend camp at Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation.

I Will always remember Bill during my years at ASCO as a kind and gentle soul. He most definitely contributed to so many others in a positive way.

We lost a very warm hearted man this week, and while we're sad to see him go we know he is very happy to be joining his sons. Rest in peace Mr. Levens and please give Dave a big hug from us. We'll miss you both xoxxoxo Toni, Rich & Hannah
