Robert S.  Kopack
Died: May 4, 2019
Robert S. Kopack, 67, of Mansfield Twp., NJ, passed away at his residence on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Born in Passaic, NJ on April 30, 1952, Robert was the son of the late Steven & Elsie Velebir Kopack. “Rob” and his beloved wife of 44 years, Kim Semon Kopack have lived in Mansfield since 1982.

Robert grew up in Clifton, NJ and was a 1970 graduate of Clifton High School. He worked for Hoffman LaRoche of Fairfield, NJ for over 30 years as the head of computer operations. After his retirement, Rob started his own business of automotive tool sales called “Matco Tools” for 5 years. He also worked part time at Island Dragway of Great Meadows, NJ. Even in declining heath, Rob would help anyone diagnose and fix the car’s problem.

For several years, Robert and Kim enjoyed racing sled dogs for many years. In addition, he was a horse show dad and grandad; helping his family raise and show Quarter Horses and continued his love of horses, working at Graystone Horse Farm in Hope, NJ. . Driving his motor home was yet another hobby that Rob loved to do.

In addition to his loving wife, Kim, he is survived by one son, Brian (Stefanie) Kopack of Washington, NJ. One daughter, Karry (John) Kertesz of Milford, NJ. Beloved Granddaughters, Jasa Kopack & Campbell Kertesz. Two brothers, James & Richard Kopack and a sister, Lori, all of Clifton, NJ.

I will always remember Bob with a smile...because Bob always had a smile. Bob is in so many of my memories of racing at Island or on the road running super comp. Many happy memories. He was our friend and a truly nice person. My deepest condolences to Kim and his family. God speed Bob.

I was shocked when Ed called me Saturday at the track. I had just spoke with Bob about 2 weeks prior during his first Chemo treatment. He was excited to know they had finally found out what the issue had been for the past 4 years. I was hoping to see him back soon at the track but, I guess God needed another good man up in the sky to watch over us. RIP Bob I’ll miss our conversations together!
