He is a graduate of Washington and Lee HS in Arlington, VA., Rutgers University and University of Buffalo Medical School (1954) where he was inducted to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his internship in Buffalo (1955) and Obstetrics and Gynecology residency in NYC in 1958 and then spent 2 years as a Captain in the Air Force at Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan where he was the base OB/GYN chairman. Dr. Oshrin opened an OB/GYN practice in Dover, New Jersey in 1960 and was affiliated with Dover General Hospital. In 1961 he joined the practice of OB/GYN of Dr. Joseph Shanik in Dover New Jersey, after that opened and maintained a practice at the Roxbury Medical Group with Dr. Joseph Wallis in Succasunna. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of OB/GYN, a member of the Morris County Medical Society, New Jersey Medical Society, American Medical Association and American College of OB/GYN. He was awarded the New Jersey Golden Merit Award by the Medical Society of New Jersey. Also, early member of Roxbury Reformed Temple in Succasunna, New Jersey.
Dr. Oshrin lived most of his life in Succasunna, NJ and retired in 1986. Robert and his wife moved to Panther Valley, Allamuchy, New Jersey where they were members of the Panther Valley Golf and Country Club. He was a golfer and also on the environmental commuter committee for many years.
Dr. Oshrin and his wife Joyce were married on June 20, 1954 at the Essex House in Newark, New Jersey and celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary last year.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce A. (Schneider) Oshrin , 2 sons; Richard Oshrin and his wife Carrie, Ronald Oshrin and his wife Stacey, 3 grandchildren; Alex, Brianna and Jill Oshrin, brother in law; Dr. Bernard Schneider and his wife Helju, sister in law; Roberta Schneider, lifelong friend and cousin; Stanley Henig, many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
