June B. Stephens, age 90, of Flanders, NJ died peacefully Tuesday, October 8, 2019. June was born June 12, 1929 in Dover, NJ to the late Preston and Gladys (Hammell) Smith. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Stephens, Sr. in 2011, and her four brothers, Sherwin, Leland, Durand and Kenyon, and three sisters, Marilyn, Glenda and Diane.

June was previously employed by Mountain View School, Mt. Olive, NJ as the Cafeteria Manager retiring many years ago. She enjoyed her work and spending time with her family. June will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by two sons, Roger Stephens, Jr., Kevin Stephens, seven grandchildren, Preston, Conner, Shawn, James, Christopher, Michael, Kelly, two great grandchildren, Dylan, Aaron and a sister, Gyl Fela.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ with Pastor JoAnn Winzer officiating. Burial will follow Mount Olive Cemetery, Budd Lake.

Kent Hobokan, 63, of Hackettstown passed away Sunday morning, October 6, 2019, at Forest Manor Nursing Health Care Center. Kent was born on April 25, 1956 in New Brunswick, NJ the son of Joan and Bill Hobokan. He was a graduate of Hackettstown High School and Kean College, Union NJ where he studied to become a Social Worker.
Kent was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was passionate about music, specifically Rock and Roll with his favorite band being Pink Floyd. Kent had an amazing dog growing up, a Shepard/Collie mix named Pax and could often been seen walking to Leo’s Luncheonette with her by his side. Kent held various jobs including working a hotline at Kean College and several years employed at Waterloo Village.
Kent is predeceased in death by sister Kandy and survived by wife Marilyn of Somerset NJ, brothers Keith and Kurt, sisters Karyl, Kourtney and Klaudia, and several nieces and nephews.
A family service will be held at Forest Manor in November. Thomas (Tom) Collins, 65, of Hackettstown, N.J. passed away Friday October 4, 2019.

Tom was born in Hampton, VA on December 20th 1953, he was the son of the late Bert Williard Collins and Alice Freda (Brewster) Collins. He received both his undergraduate degree and Masters in Education from William Patterson University. Tom taught English at Long Valley Middle School before becoming Assistant Principal.
Tom went on to become the Principal of both, Long Valley Middle school and Flocktown Road School.
While affecting the lives of so many students and colleagues throughout his career in education, Tom’s greatest impact was on the many loving family members he leaves behind.

Tom is survived by two loving daughters, Dana (Mike) Leary, of Naples, Florida, and Gina (Josh) Seifert, of Green Twp, NJ. Along with his three grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Tom leaves his four beloved brothers, Kirt (Pat) Collins of Topeka, KS, Bert (Faye) Collins of Oxford, NJ, Gary Collins of Silver Spring, MD, and Carson (Sharon) Collins of Springfield, TN.

Louise E. Dimiceli, 66, of East Pharsalia passed away Wednesday evening, October 2. 2019, at the Valley View Manor Nursing Home.
Louise was born on December 14, 1952 in Newton, NJ the daughter of Kasmier and Mary (Rudinski) Urevich and was a graduate of the Hackettstown, NJ high school. While living in New Jersey she was employed by the Shop Rite Supermarkets in Netcong, NJ for over 30 years. She and her husband John moved to the area 12 years ago.
Louise was Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 164 American Legion in Hackettstown and was also a life member of the post. She was also a member of the Norwich B.P.O.E. #1222, a life member of Norwich VFW Post 2782 and a life member of the DAV of Cortland.
Louise is survived by her husband John of East Pharsalia, step-son John Dimiceli Jr. of Winchester, VA and brothers Kasmier Urevich of Hershey, PA and Leonard Urevich of Anchorage, Alaska.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday from 4-6 pm.

Evangeline was a lifetime resident of Socorro. She was someone who Silent her life helping those less fortunate
than her, entertaining her family and friends, and being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grand­
mother ( Baca Baca and gramme gr-arnma). Her smile !it up every room she entered and everyone who knew her
will miss her, She was heavily involved in politics and unions. She spent her entire career as a educator for
special needs children at Socorro Consolidated Schools,
She was also a devoted member of the Harwood Method­
ist Church in Socorro.

Evangeline was preceded in death by her parents
Hcrmelindo Baca and Magdelena (valenzula) Baca. Her
beloved husband, Robert A. Torres, who she was mar­
tied to for 59 years, her beloved daughter, Ronaelc

Muriel Bernice Stevens, 88, of Hackettstown, NJ, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019, in Oxford, NJ.

She was born on January 23, 1931, in Hackettstown, NJ, the child of Robert A. and Laura A. (Wilken) Smith . She was a 1948 graduate of Hackettstown High School.

Muriel married Robert J. Stevens in June of 1950. Together they had two children, son Dale and a daughter, Robin. Muriel was a lifelong resident in Hackettstown, and lived most of her many years on Mountain Avenue.

She worked at several iconic businesses in Hackettstown, beginning during her high school years at the Jigger Shop, on Main Street. She moved on to the Dairy Bar on Rt. 46 east of town, and remained there until the mid-sixties. Finally, she took a position at the Shop-Rite supermarket on Stiger St., later moving to the store in Mansfield, where she held the position of head cashier until her retirement in 1993. Wherever she worked, she was always well liked by both customers and co-workers.

Muriel loved to travel. She often visited distant family, traveling to Florida, Texas, Kentucky, New York and Oregon. At home in Hackettstown, her doors were never locked, and friends and family were welcome to drop in, and frequently did.

Her Christian faith was an important part of her life. She lived her faith every day, being generous in spirit and having a forgiving nature. She was quick to help anyone in need.

She is predeceased by her husband Robert, her sister Shirley Sitnik,, her brother Robert Smith, her sister Jane Mooney and her daughter, Robin Chiniewicz.

She is survived by her son, Dale Stevens and his wife Wendy Copenhaver (Corning, NY), a sister Sharon-Lee Molnar and her husband John (Phillipsburg, NJ), a sister Sandra Garriques (Boonton, NJ), a brother Charles Smith and his wife Barbara (Bushnell, FL). Her five grandchildren are Dawn Chiniewicz (Oxford, NJ), Nicole Campbell (Portland, OR), Kendra Chamberlain (Baton Rouge, LA), Patrick Stevens (Ocean City, MD) and granddaughter Maxwell Stevens (Buffalo, NY). She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours are on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, from 2-4 pm and from 6-8 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.

Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019, at 11:00 am at Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, NJ with Dr. Rev. Frank Fowler officiating.

Jane Marie Mooney, 90, of Hackettstown, NJ, passed away on Tuesday September 17, 2019.

She was born on March 7, 1929 in Hackettstown, NJ. She was the oldest child of Robert A. and Laura A. (Wilken) Smith . She was a 1946 graduate of Hackettstown High School.

Jane married James J. Mooney on February 24, 1954 and resided in Hackettstown. They had three children, James, Catherine and Jane.

She was employed by Hackettstown Community Hospital in dining services until her retirement in 1993. She was a founding member of the Hackettstown Baptist Church and a member of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) both for many years. She was active in the church participating in Awana, bible study and Lydia Circle.

Jane loved playing games with the family which included dominos, scrabble and monopoly and reading her bible. She also loved word puzzles and watching Hallmark and Lifetime Movie Channel. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband James, her sister Shirley and her brother Robert. She leaves behind a son James Mooney and his wife Yvonne, a daughter Catherine Clarke and her husband Joseph, a daughter Jane Mooney, a sister Muriel Stevens, a sister Sharon-Lee Molnar and husband John, a sister Sandra Garriques, a brother Charles Smith and his wife Barbara, grandchildren: Shannon Mulvihill and her husband Bob, April Casson and her husband Chris, Joseph and James Clarke, great grandchildren: Carly, Kaitlin and Nick Whitehead and John, Angelina and Madilyn Casson.

Marcus John Maltese, 35 of Hackettstown, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 in Lyons, New Jersey. Marcus graduated from Hackettstown High School in 2001 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 2006 where he obtained an Associate’s Degree. Marcus spent 12 years and 4 months in the Air Force where he was stationed in various locations including Germany, South Carolina, Nevada and Delaware. During his service, Marcus reached the level of Staff Sergeant and received numerous awards and recognitions including Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal to name a few.
When not in uniform, Marcus enjoyed hiking, spending time with his family, and cheering on the New York Giants. For anyone that knew Marcus knew his favorite thing to do was enjoy time with his greatest accomplishments, his three little girls, Julianna, Brynlee, and Adalyn. Marcus had a laugh that was infectious and a sense of humor that was second to none.
Marcus is survived by his three daughters, Julianna, Brynlee, and Adalyn, mother Laura Viggiano, brothers Vinnie, Nick, and Adam, sisters Alyssa, Angela, Giavanna, Elizabeth, Grace and Amira, nieces Briella, Sunny and Isabella, and various aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father Vincent G. Maltese, paternal grandmother Elizabeth A. Maltese, paternal grandfather Vincent P. Maltese, maternal grandmother Jane Kasnowski, and maternal grandfather Vincent G. Viggiano.

David Thaddeus Sawicki of Independence Township died peacefully after a long illness while surrounded by his family on September 1, 2019, at the age of 47 at Morristown Medical Center.
David was born on February 26, 1972 in Belleville, New Jersey, the youngest child of Thaddeus Sawicki and Evelyn Goley Sawicki.
David had a wonderful childhood growing up in Union with his two sisters, Karen and Diane. David’s love of baseball started very early with Little League and eventually playing baseball as a Union High School Farmer. He went on to play baseball at Seton Hall University where he was a nationally ranked Division I pitcher. David went on to coach college baseball at several New Jersey colleges. He was most proud of establishing the Centenary College Cyclones Baseball Team and would go on to lead them to the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Regionals in 2005 and 2006. He most recently worked for Campbell University in North Carolina as the Director of Regional Admissions and loved helping young students become Camels.
David lived life with a bold personality and a full heart. David moved to Hackettstown in 2002 where he met, quickly fell in love, and married Jennifer Nick Sawicki in 2004. Jennifer and David had two beautiful daughters, Katherine (Katie) and Madelyn. David adored his girls and was an attentive father. During his free time, David would coach his daughters’ teams and served on the Independence Township Recreation Commission to ensure the children in town would have the same wonderful experiences on the ball fields as he had growing up. David was never shy and would always be heard from the sidelines cheering on his two favorite girls, Katie and Madelyn. He also loved to spend time on Long Beach Island, cheering on his beloved NJ Devils, and watching Star Wars with his daughters.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thaddeus in 2006. David is survived by his wife Jennifer, and his two young daughters, Katie and Madelyn, of Independence Township; his mother Evelyn, of Waretown, NJ; his sister Karen, of Basking Ridge, NJ; and his sister Diane, of Waretown, NJ.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Calling hours will be Friday, September 6, 2019 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and from 7:00 – 9:00pm. Floyd Alfred Smith of Heath Village, Hackettstown, N.J. died on August 27, 2019, at the age of
90. Floyd was born in Flushing, N.Y. on February 24, 1929, to Floyd Lee and Mary Davenport
Smith.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Pace University in New York City in 1951. He
was inducted into the US Army in 1951, and served two years stationed at West Point. After
completing military service, he began his career in Corporate Records Management at Union
Carbide. On October 2, 1955, he married Lucy DeHondt, together they raised 3 daughters in
Oyster Bay, N.Y. They later lived in Brookfield Center, Conn. and Chapel Hill, N.C. before
moving to Hackettstown, N.J. Floyd was an active member of the Heath Village community,
serving as resident representative to the board of directors and on many committees, and
organizing and running the very popular bocci league. He enjoyed painting and exhibited his
work at a show at Heath Village. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of
Hackettstown.

Floyd was preceded in death by his wife Lucy and sister Mary Lee Umshlag. He is survived by
three daughters; Sarah (Terry) Becker of Burnsville, Minn., Jenny (Mark) Sanders of
Albuquerque, N.M., and Martha (Robert) Fico of Westfield, N.J., and grandchildren Lesley
(Josh) Schneider, Rachel and Kristen Becker, and Jack and Mark Fico, and his sister Betty
Gessner, one nephew and four nieces.
