Thomas H. Sharp, age 61, of East Stroudsburg, PA formerly of Hackettstown, NJ was welcomed into heaven on Sunday, April 30, 2017. Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Kathleen (nee-Spicer) Sharp, nieces Ashleigh (Ian Cassidy) Spicer, Brittany Spicer and nephew Nick Spicer and family and friends across the country. He was born October 4, 1955 in Denville, NJ. His family joyfully greeting him in heaven include his parents Howard and Harriet (Kay) Sharp and father-in-law, Frank Spicer.
His service in US Air Force prepared him for his career with Marotta Controls. Over the past 35 years, his career has spanned the depths of the ocean to the heights of the heavens; from working on submarines, to the payload bay of the space shuttle and the international space station.
A quiet man with an inquisitive mind, he was an avid reader who enjoyed a good game of horseshoes and hiking in the natural beauty of the Pocono mountains. He was a history buff who studied the lessons of the Battle of Gettysburg with friends and colleagues. He willingly provided tours to anyone who showed an interest.
The family would like to thank all who brought joy to his life and to the nurses and staff at the VNA Hospice House, East Stroudsburg, PA who provided comfort and care to Tom during his final transition to his heavenly home.
Memorial donations in Tom’s honor may be made through: https://www.gofundme.com/hdtv-for-hospice-patients
Visiting hours will be Thursday, May 4 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ with a funeral service beginning at 7:30 pm. The burial services will be private.
Condolences:

Tom was my cousin, we had fun as kids. When we got older we did a lot of rafting trips on the Delaware. He will be missed. My wife Sue and I send our deepest sympathy to his wife Kathy.

I want to express my condolences to the Sharp family. Although decades have past and distance separated me from my hometown I remember Tom in high school as a caring and fun person.
One of the Air Force mottos was to Aim High which You did!
As a fellow veteran in this month of May as we remember all of our deceased veterans I stand at attention and render You a final salute.
Lest it not be forgotten that Your service and sacrifice to Your country was and always will be appreciated.

Known by "Tucker" in our neighborhood growing up, Tom was always fun to be with whether it was sand lot sports, H O racing or music. Although it's been awhile Tom, the world was a better place because of you. Rest in peace until we all meet again.

Tom, I was shocked to learn that you had left us so soon. My best childhood friend and a friendship I have not been able to duplicate all these years later. I still have the train set I traded you for almost 50 years ago. Please tell your parents and my Dad I said hello. May God bless you and Kathy. RIP, my friend. Rodger

I worked with Tom for the 35yrs of his career at Marotta. The relationship was coworker to friend. A special bond formed. Our families spent many happy times together. What I will miss most is seeing him every day, hearing him say hey pal, what's the lunch special today. Tom you will be missed more than you will ever know. Good Bye my friend, until we meet again xxoo

I have a distinct memory of being at the Sharp's house as we so often were in my childhood, and Tom was blasting Saturday in the Park by Chicago on his big speakers, washing his car and goofing around. He was laughing as he always did. My cool big cousin that I thought was just the neatest guy.... He was always this legend to me, off in the world doing great things. Now I know he is off somewhere new, on a new adventure doing great things. Before he left he visited me in a dream. He was young, smiling and laughing, letting me know he would be just fine. See you again someday Buddy

Spent many weekends touring the historic battlefields of Gettysburg and Antietam. Don't think there's a spot at Gettysburg that we didn't tour and study. Usually at the end of the day we'd hang out on the balcony of the hotel with a beer and a smoke discussing what we had covered. On Sunday mornings we'd be on the field by 5:30 AM at the Virginia Monument to watch the sunrise behind the union line on Cemetery Hill...........Forward of that monument is a wayside plaque with a picture of a CSA soldier who was shot at Gettysburg then met his shooter 25 years later. His name: Holland Sharp......The remaining tours out there will be strange and sad as the memories of all our studies will come back to mind..................So now Tom can get his answers on Gettysburg from the original sources...............May God rest his soul.............OOH RAH GENERAL.
