Barbara A. Poyer, 80 of Budd Lake, NJ died Friday March 15th at her home. Barbara was born in Hackettstown and lived in the area all of her life. She is a daughter of the late Harry and Sara (Dereemer) Schmeal. She is also predeceased by her husband Alfred Poyer,Sr.
Barbara was a school van aide for autistic children working for Cassidy Transport in Long Valley for 17 years before retiring in 2018. She enjoyed baking, puzzles and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune while cuddling with her grand dogs and grand cats on her lap.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Tammy and her boyfriend Craig, step-son, Alfred Poyer,Jr.,step daughter Gloria Keller and her husband Bill, a brother Robert Schmeal, sisters, Shirley Powell, Virginia Nagle and Diane Mazzella. Also surviving are 4 step-grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren and her beloved 5 grand dogs and 7 grand cats.
Friends may call on Wednesday March 20th from 4pm until 8pm at the Cochran Funeral Home 905 High Street Hackettstown, NJ
The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday March 21st at 10:30am with Chaplain Mario Spadaro presiding. Interment will follow in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ

We would like to express our deepest sympathy and our heartfelt condolences to the entire Poyer Family. Barbara was a van aide for our son, Joseph Anthony. She was an amazing, caring, loving and tender person. We were truly blessed and privileged to have her care for our son. May she rest in peace watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune with her beloved husband Alfred, Sr.
