 Virginia E. Sparnon, age 89, a lifelong resident of Hackettstown, NJ died Friday, November 25, 2016 at Heath Village, Hackettstown, NJ.  Mrs. Sparnon was born May 15, 1927 in Hackettstown. She is the daughter of the late Merril and Ethel (Courtright) Allen.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Leland Sparnon, 2 brothers, John Allen and Albert Emery. 

She was employed by NJ Bell, Hackettstown, NJ as a Telephone Operator for many years. Virginia in her younger years was previously a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, and member of the PTA in Hackettstown.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and going to craft shows.  Virginia loved spending time with her family, was a dedicated wife to her husband and mother to her family.  She also loved to go for Sunday afternoon drives in the country.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Patricia Sparnon, Beverley Boal and husband Dave, 1 son; Raymond Leland Sparnon, Jr. and wife Jane, 1 adopted daughter; Sheila Fabiano, 3 grandchildren; Kathryn Thor and husband Ira, Megan Mooney and husband Kevin, Erin Shah and husband Herschel, 5 great grandchildren; Gavin, Kendra, Julia, Shannon and Anderson.

The funeral will be held 12:00 pm on Tuesday, November 29 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Rev. Joseph McCarthy officiating.  Burial will be in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows following services.

Visitation hours will be Tuesday, November 29 from 10 am to 12 Noon at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 350 Sparta Avenue, Building B, Suite 2, Sparta, NJ 07871 in memory of Virginia.

I am sorry to hear of your Mother's passing, I worked with her in Girl Scouts and the PTA for years. I now reside in FL.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Every time that I would run into your mom she would say something to make me laugh. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
