Dorothy A. Bartkus, 91, died January 24, 2012 in the House of Good Shepherd, Hackettstown, NJ.  Dorothy lived in Hackettstown, NJ since 2002 coming from Kearny, NJ  and was born in Kearny, NJ on May 7, 1920.

Dorothy was the daughter of the late Ernest and Emma (Salzmann) Konshott.  Dorothy is also predeceased by her husband Edward C. Bartkus and her sister Mabel Pumo.

Dorothy is survived by 2 sons:  Paul and his wife Phyllis Bartkus of Hackettstown, NJ and Robert Edward and his wife Mary Bartkus of Tewksbury, NJ. Three grandchildren:  Elizabeth Bartkus, Graham Tracey and Jesse Tracey and 6 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy first worked at the Prudential Insurance Co,, Newark, NJ. Then owned and operated the Dablers Ceramic Studio in Kearny, NJ. Lastly, she served as an Assistant Cashier for the First National Bank, Newark, Nj retiring many years ago. She also served in the WAVES of the united States Navy during WWII as Storekeeper 1st Class.

She was a graduate of Kearny High School and attended Fairleigh Dickenson University. Dorothy was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Hackettstown, NJ; she was an Oblate at The Community of St. John Baptist Mendham, NJ where she practiced ecclestiastical embroidery; was an active member of Episcopal Diocese of the of Newark Alter Guild; Secretary of the National Altar Guild; and was a member of Christ Church in Harrison where she served as a Warden & Vestry member; Lastly, she was first President of the Resident's Council at the House of the Good Shepherd.

Visitation Saturday January 28, 2012 from 8:30 to 10:00 am at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Services to be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. James Episcopal Church, Washington Street, Hackettstown, NJ.  Interment is private.
