Aaltje Smit, age 81, of Budd Lake, formerly of Long Valley, NJ died Friday, June 6, 2014 at St. Clares Hospital, Dover, NJ. Aaltje was born January 29, 1933 in the Netherlands. She is the daughter of the late Gerard and the late Auke (Broersema) Van der Ploeg. She is married to Henderikus K. Smit.
Aaltje was a loving Homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family, playing cards and watching her favorite TV shows.
She is survived by her husband: Henderikus K. Smit, 4 sons, Gerald Smit and wife Clara, Bert Smit, Henry Smit, Benny Smit and wife Jeanine, 3 daughters, Aukje Kuntz and husband Ronald, Rita Mauer and Husband David, Stephanie Greenspan and husband David, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 1 brother.
